The evening before our outstanding meal at Hotel Schützen Restaurant, we visited the restaurant at Hotel Silberhorn. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the phenomenal Swiss cuisine served at Hotel Schützen Restaurant. Staubbach Falls can be seen from many balcony rooms at Hotel Schützen. The building that ultimately became the hotel was constructed in 1671, and much of its history and charm can still be seen after renovations and updates. Wonderful Swiss hospitality is provided to all guests staying at Hotel Schützen. We stayed at Hotel Schützen for one night during our all-too-brief visit to Lauterbrunnen. The most famous is Staubbach Falls (pictured above), falling close 1,000 feet (300 meters), making it one of the highest waterfalls in all of Europe. The name Lauterbrunnen means ‘many fountains’, as there are 72 waterfalls in the surrounding valley. Lauterbrunnen is well known among adrenaline junkies, as the valley and surrounding area are perfect for paraglading and skydiving! If you’re feeling adventurous, there are plenty of things to do in Lauterbrunnen to get your heart racing! We’re not that adventurous, so we can only imagine how spectacular the views of the Alps would be from above. There are several cafes where you can grab a coffee or hot chocolate on a chilly day. You can easily walk this charming Alpine village from one end to the other in about 15 minutes, but why would you without stopping to admire the architecture, surrounding beauty, and many shops and eateries? Things to do in Lauterbrunnen Switzerland One of many things to do in Lauterbrunnen is to simply walk around town and admire the unique architecture.
